These are the mission objects that the OICD proposes to concentrate on as of 2020. Comments from OICD members welcome!

To reduce conflict of all forms and promote peace |
- To reduce existing, and to prevent future conflict (especially violent conflict) between and among human groups (defined through socio-economic, ethnic, cultural, or religious differences) and individuals;
- To reduce discrimination, persecution and marginalization of groups and individuals
- To promote social/racial/ethnic/cultural/religious harmony, equality, equity, diversity and inclusion; by all or any of the following means
Actions to Fulfill Goal
- conducting research on the identity and cultural root causes of conflict and discrimination, with particular reference to how psychological, social, economic, environmental and political dynamics shape identities and drive behaviour.
- using research to build strategies that counter specific root causes of conflict and/or discrimination.
- using strategies to design and deliver educational content that provides alternative messaging to that which excludes, discriminates, persecutes or marginalizes others on the basis of stated differences.
- promoting lost, forgotten, or deliberately eliminated cultural concepts and narratives that describe features, histories, qualities, values and practices that bridge differences and define, regenerate and amplify common ground between groups and individuals.
- applying strategies to the design and delivery of a variety of programs, including, but not limited to: messaging campaigns delivered through theater, television and radio, Internet and traditional mass media platforms as well as social media; educational, training and information programs and services.
- monitoring levels of cultural and identity division and providing preventative warnings and alerts to relevant individuals and bodies when these levels increase.
- awarding grants, prizes, awards and other rewards and incentives to individuals and organizations that support, promote and encourage effective strategies formed from research and analysis.
- cultivating and nurturing capable and informed leadership at all levels to achieve these objects.
To Further Research of Identity and Culture |
- To advance research in the field of identity and cultural development with particular reference to how identities are used to create divisions or build unity across social, economic and political life by all or any of the following means

- hosting and/or supporting workshops and conferences.
- creating and maintaining networks of researchers and other related professionals and organizations.
- supporting individuals or organizations that contribute to this object.
To Convert Academic Ideas in to Effective Tools |
- To advance the development, quality and effectiveness of tools, applications and methodologies that use research findings to counter division and build cohesion and unity across social, economic, cultural, and political life.

- creating and testing tools, methodologies and applications.
- delivering and disseminating applications to individuals and organizations.
- hosting and/or supporting workshops and conferences that support this development.
- creating and maintaining networks of researchers and other related professionals and organizations.
- supporting individuals or organizations that contribute to this object.
To Help Improve the Peace Building Process |
- To increase effectiveness of conflict prevention, response and reconciliation work amongst professionals who practice it.
Actions to Fulfill Goal
- developing and delivering training programs.
- providing specialist methodologies and applications to organizational leaders, policymakers, practitioners and other relevant professionals.
- publishing educational materials that share the scientific methods, applications and methodologies.
To Increase Education to Decrease Conflict |
- To promote and advance education in the humanities and human sciences, particularly with a view to supporting objects stated in the "To reduce conflict of all forms and promote peace" above.
- To promote personal and leadership development, particularity in increasing the options for individuals and groups to access broad and inclusive senses of cultural and biological heritage, and thus to support the aims of objects stated in the "To reduce conflict of all forms and promote peace" above.
Actions to Fulfill Goal
- popularizing academic research findings on the broad nature of human history, cultural
heritage and biological and social diversity through accessible books, articles and any other relevant formats. - designing and delivering educational programs that can deliver such knowledge in accessible formats for use in primary and secondary schools, universities, think tanks and public policy institutes, agencies, organizations, and communities.
- Increasing the quality of information available to the public on the nature of human diversity and cultural heritage, through all appropriate means.
To Advance Universal Human Rights |
- further defined in the UDHR and related instruments): Right to Equality, Freedom from Discrimination, Right to Life, Liberty & Personal Security, Nationality, Freedom of Belief and Religion, the Right to Opinion and Information the Right to Privacy, and the Right to Participate in the Cultural Life of Community.
- Will pursue these rights while on our way to accomplish all the goals above
- Contribute to research and debate within the field of human rights.
